DEADLINE: McGraw Fellowships for Business Journalism
Grants up to $15K to Produce High-Impact Business Journalism
Are you a journalist with a great idea for a high-impact story that “Follows the Money,” but few resources to get it done? The McGraw Fellowship for Business Journalism would like to hear from you.
The McGraw Fellowship for Business Journalism, an initiative of the Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY, is designed to support high-impact economic and business journalism. The McGraw Fellowships provide up to $15,000 and editorial support for experienced journalists to produce deeply-reported investigative or enterprise stories on important economic, financial or business topics. No residency is required; McGraw Fellows work from their own offices. Open to freelance journalists, as well as staff reporters and editors working at news organizations. Five years professional journalism experience is needed.
We accept applications twice a year. Applications for the Spring 2024 Fellowships are due March 31, 2025. Applications for the Fall 2024 Fellowships were due October 6, 2024. However, we will consider time-sensitive projects on a case-by-case basis outside of the deadline periods. If you have a project that might qualify, please contact us at mcgrawcenter@journalism.cuny.edu.
What kind of work do we support? Previous McGraw Fellows have worked on a wide range of topics – and you don’t need to be a business reporter to apply. Many McGraw Fellows have been generalists, or cover other beats such as health care or the environment. Here are a few examples.
If you’d like to join them, you’ll find more information on the McGraw Fellowships here. You can also contact us at mcgrawcenter@journalism.cuny.edu.
