SEJournal Relaunches WatchDog with a ‘Voice,’ Plus Coronavirus and More

SEJournal welcomes back from hiatus our WatchDog feature, now recast as an opinion column from Joseph A. Davis, Society of Environmental Journalists’ veteran freedom of information advocate and longtime SEJournal contributor. DEADLINE: IJNR Grants for Reporting on Marine Indigenous Protected Areas in Canada

The Institute for Journalism & Natural Resources will provide grants up to $15,000 USD for reporting projects on Indigenous Protected and Conserved Areas (IPCAs) in Canada, with a particular focus on marine areas. Open to all journalists; projects led by or including Indigenous journalists are strongly encouraged. Deadline is Mar 29, 2024.

Police Arrest 33 Indigenous Protesters Opposing Canada Gas Pipeline

"Police in Canada arrested 33 indigenous rights protesters on Monday, ending the closure of Vancouver ports in British Columbia province by demonstrators opposed to construction of the Coastal GasLink natural gas pipeline, but movement of commodities and passenger trains was still disrupted by the ongoing rallies."
