"House appropriators this morning quickly advanced a $44.7 billion Energy and Water Development spending bill for fiscal 2019, debating only a few amendments on nuclear weapons, the funding of energy offices and "poison pill" riders.
The Appropriations Committee passed the bill, which provides funding for the Department of Energy, the Army Corps of Engineers and other agencies, by a vote of 29-20.
Republicans voted down an amendment from Rep. Matt Cartwright (D-Pa.) that would have boosted funding to DOE's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) and Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) to the levels enacted in fiscal 2018."
