"Conservative billionaire David Koch is leaving his political and corporate roles due to deteriorating health, marking a leadership shift for a company vilified by left-leaning politicians and groups for its roles in U.S. energy and climate policies.
Koch, 78, is stepping away from his post at Koch Industries Inc. as executive vice president and a board member. The younger Koch sibling is also leaving his seat on the board of the Americans for Prosperity Foundation, the charity related to the Koch brothers' primary political organization.
Charles Koch, 82, who now helms the oil, chemical and textile conglomerate as chairman and CEO, told employees in a letter today that his brother has been battling health issues for years and is now unable to be involved in the family business and will be retiring. David Koch was diagnosed with prostate cancer more than two decades ago."
