"DOE Bristled at Solyndra Push"

"Energy Department career employees admonished and occasionally ignored the Obama fundraiser who managed DOE’s public rollout of Solyndra's loan guarantee, according to internal Obama administration emails that POLITICO reviewed on Wednesday."

"William Miller, a DOE veteran who handled the California solar company's $535 million loan guarantee, took issue with the Obama political operative-turned-federal employee, Steve Spinner, after Spinner requested the name of an outside attorney assigned to the case.

"I would like to remind you that we have a specific relationship with the outside counsel hired for these deals, one that is governed by the existing procurement documents, whereby the relationship is explicitly run through the Department of Energy Office of General Counsel," Miller wrote to Spinner on June 12, 2009.

Spinner, whose duties were only supposed to involve broader logistical issues tied to Solyndra's loan guarantee, responded that he would not try to get in touch with Frederick Jenney, the Washington D.C.-based attorney at Morrison & Foerster whom DOE had contracted to work on the issue."
