Oil Lobby Ads Target House Reps as Panel Nears Vote on Exports

"WASHINGTON — The lobbying coalition representing 16 independent oil producers campaigning to export crude around the globe is launching advertising Wednesday night targeting Houston Democratic Rep. Gene Green and three other lawmakers who could play a decisive role on the issue.

The ads, running online Wednesday and beginning on cable television Thursday, peg the oil export debate to the nuclear deal with Iran, which could allow the country to sell 700,000 barrels of crude to foreign buyers daily.

The government’s Energy Information Administration has suggested that if OPEC member countries do not cut their production to offset the influx of Iranian crude, it could translate into a 400,000 barrel-per-day reduction in U.S. oil harvests."
