Canadian Government Drafts New 3-Year Open Government Plan

June 22, 2016

Canada's federal government has drafted a plan for improving its transparency and openness — and is inviting comments before a June 30, 2016, deadline.

The draft plan has been published online here.

The plan is partly a response to the international project called the Open Government Partnership. While the current draft plan is for 2016-2018, previous versions of the plan were for 2014-2016 and 2012-2014.

Overall goals of the new draft plan are to make all government data and information open by default and to eliminate all fees except for an initial $5 filing fee.
