Announcement: SEJ's 23rd Annual Conference Returns to Chattanooga, TN, Oct. 2-6, 2013

July 5, 2012—The Society of Environmental Journalists is pleased to accept the invitation of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and the Chattanooga Times Free Press to bring our 2013 meeting to Tennessee. This will be the first time in 20 years that SEJ is bringing its annual conference back to a conference host.

The Southern Environmental Law Center invites submissions until Oct 1, 2024 for its annual award, which seeks to enhance public awareness of the value and vulnerability of the natural environment in at least one of these states: Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee or Virginia. "Florida's Vanishing Springs"

"North of Gainesville, a church camp once attracted thousands of visitors because it was built around the gushing waters of Hornsby Springs. Then the spring stopped flowing and the camp had to spend more than $1 million to build a water park to replace it. The old spring site is now so stagnant that it's frequently declared unfit for humans to swim in."
